Privacy Policy

Light a Paw (lightapaw.com and the Light a Paw apps for Android and iPhone) is run by MYNZ Limited, New Zealand.

What we collect

• Memorials you choose to create: your pet's name, dates, photo, the words you write, and the display name you choose. These are public so others can visit.
• Candles, flowers and guestbook messages you leave, with the display name you choose. These are public.
• Your position in the 3D hall while you are visiting, so others can see you walking. This is not stored.
• Basic technical logs (such as IP address) kept by our hosting provider for security and to stop abuse.
• Your device's time zone (for example "Pacific/Auckland"). From it we know your country, to show a small flag next to your guestbook message and to send letters and notifications at a kind hour. We never look up your exact location.
• If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple: your account id, first name and email (with Apple, you can hide your email), only so your memorials follow you to other devices. We never post anything or send marketing email. You can delete your account anytime from My page.
• Letters "from your pet" and your replies. They are private to you. They are written with the help of an AI service (DeepSeek), which receives your pet's details and your recent letters to write the next one. You can stop letters anytime.
• If you turn on notifications, the address your browser or phone gives us for sending them (in the iPhone app this goes through Expo's notification service). You can turn them off anytime.
• If you buy something in the iPhone app, Apple takes the payment. Apple tells us what was bought, never your card or Apple ID details.
• If you buy a keepsake: your name, shipping address, email and phone go to Stripe (who takes the payment) and to our print partner, only to make and deliver your order. We never see or keep your card details.

We do not ask for your phone number or real name (unless you order a keepsake, which needs a delivery address), and email only if you sign in with Google or order a keepsake. We do not sell your data and we do not use advertising trackers.

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. It collects anonymous usage data such as pages viewed, device type and rough location (country/city), and uses cookies to do this.

On your device

We save your display name, music setting and a private key that lets you edit or remove the memorials you made, in your browser's local storage.

Removing a memorial

You can remove your memorial from its Guestbook screen on the same device you made it on. You can also email us and we will remove it.
